Accenture buys Tokyo’s Aidemy to turbocharge AI reskilling

Accenture buys Tokyo’s Aidemy

Accenture completed a tender offer for Tokyo-listed Aidemy and will acquire all remaining shares, making Aidemy a subsidiary before delisting it from the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market in the coming months. The acquisition strengthens Accenture’s LearnVantage platform—backed by a US$1 billion, three-year investment—expanding capabilities in AI training, reskilling, and end-to-end AI system development and adoption for enterprises. Approximately 130 Aidemy professionals from Aidemy and group entities will join Accenture to support client transformation and talent strategies.

Writing like a professional journalist reporter, Accenture said its tender—open from August 15 to September 29—received more than the minimum number of shares and stock acquisition rights required, paving the way for a full takeover of Aidemy (TSE: 5577) and eventual delisting. The move folds Aidemy’s strengths—enterprise AI/DX consulting, reskilling programs in AI, DX, and data analytics, and AI system development—into Accenture’s LearnVantage, aimed at closing skill gaps and ensuring sustained use of AI systems across industries. As mentioned in Accenture’s update, the transaction follows a string of learning-focused acquisitions, including Udacity, TalentSprint, and Ascendient Learning, to scale instructor-led training and industry-recognized credentials.

The deal reflects intensifying demand for enterprise reinvention fueled by generative AI, where talent pipelines and organizational adoption remain bottlenecks despite rapid tech maturity. Market trackers note the tender terms set mid-August and targeted completion by end-September, aligning with Accenture’s push to consolidate learning assets and expand in Japan’s digital talent market. As mentioned in the Accenture newsroom post, this acquisition is positioned to accelerate workforce reskilling for clients worldwide, with Aidemy’s 130-member team augmenting solutions from strategy and training to AI deployment and lifecycle support.
