Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the fourth edition of World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on September 25, reinforcing India’s rise as a global powerhouse in food processing. Hosted by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the annual flagship event welcomed leaders from both the Indian government and the international food industry, including Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev and top executives from renowned companies like PepsiCo, Britannia, Nestlé, and AMUL. As mentioned in the Press Information Bureau release, this global gathering showcased India’s diversity and scale, positioning the nation as the “food basket of the world”.
Focus on Nutrition, Investment & Innovation
PM Modi’s address highlighted India’s pivotal role in tackling both contemporary food security challenges and fostering cutting-edge innovation. He praised the event’s focus on healthier packaging, reduced oil consumption, and nutrition enhancement, aligning these goals with the broader Atmanirbhar Bharat vision for national self-reliance. A CEO roundtable, co-chaired by Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, gathered industry leaders to discuss strategies for boosting agro-processing’s GDP share and driving reforms within the sector.
On the first day, World Food India 2025 witnessed signing of multiple MoUs worth over ₹76,000 crore, targeting diverse segments such as beverages, dairy, and confectionery. These high-impact agreements are set to drive investment across regions including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the North-East, reflecting a true pan-India footprint.
